What to do with a Bridesmaid Drop-Out

Bridesmaid Jewelry Gifts

Keyword Phrase: Bridesmaids Gift

Most brides will attest to the fact that planning a wedding is very stressful. For most brides, the planning of the perfect wedding far outweighs the cost of the perfect wedding. Normally, bridesmaids come to the rescue and help the bride continue planning for the perfect wedding. Bridesmaids are really the glue that holds the bride together as she plans for her perfect wedding. For this very reason, bridesmaid gifts were created. While having bridesmaids is supposed to help ease the stress of wedding planning, what happens when a bridesmaid adds to the bride’s stress?

Some brides have experienced bridal party drama from one of their bridesmaids stepping down. Sadly enough, what is supposed to be the most important and anticipated event in a bride’s life can be tainted by underlying issues that a bridesmaid has against the bride. Whether it seems obvious or not, some brides may be torn as to whether or not an ex-bridesmaid deserves to receive a bridesmaids gift for the space of time that she did serve as a bridesmaid. When making this decision, the bride must consider the following:

  • Did the former bridesmaid complete any tasks that would entitle her to receive a bridesmaids gift?

  • If the gift was personalized (i.e. monogrammed, initials, name) prior to her dropping out of the race, should the bridesmaid drop out recieve the bridesmaids gift, despite her lack of commitment?

  • What did the bridesmaid not do in fulfilling her duties as a bridesmaid?

  • Was it a stupid decisoin on her part to drop out or was there something very serious that cause her to drop out?

  • Is it important that the bridesmaid drop out recieve her bridesmaids gift?

Some brides have faced difficult circumstances while planning their wedding. Some of these events may have included a death in the family prior to the wedding, cancelling the wedding due to infidelity or other issues, or simply getting “cold feet”. Another event that can be disheartening to a bride is losing a friend during the course of the engagement. While deciding whether to give the bridesmaid drop out her bridesmaids gift or not is immaterial, it is very hard for many brides to cope with the reality of a failed friendship-especially during the most important event of one’s life. The bride should move on and make every effort to make her wedding day perfect just the way she wants it to be. She could even give the bridesmaids gift as a parting present.
